Dr Samaratunga is a highly experienced Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician, providing expert care for patients with respiratory and sleep-related conditions. She delivers safe, effective, and patient-centred management with a focus on long-term wellbeing.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2005 and completed her general physician training at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, with external placements at The Prince Charles Hospital, Rockhampton Base Hospital, and Redcliffe Hospital, including rural placements in Northern and Central Queensland. She achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2014, followed by a three-year fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Princess Alexandra Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital.
Dr Samaratunga is known for her technical expertise and patient-focused approach, ensuring patients are informed, supported, and confident in their care.

Sleep Medicine

  • Management of respiratory muscle weakness in neuromuscular disorders (e.g., motor neurone disease)
